Anne Painter is an Architectural Technology Instructor at Dakota County Technical College. She began teaching in the fall of 2014.
Anne has her undergraduate degree in Interior Design from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She also holds a master's degree in architecture from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. Her education has given her the opportunity to study in multiple cities in Italy and work in Berlin, Germany.
Her past teaching experience includes teaching at the University of Kansas, Duke University's TIP program, Rio Salado, The Arts Institute, and ITT. She has also been a guest reviewer at the University of Minnesota's architecture program.
Anne's professional career includes many different types of architecture. She owned her own design/build firm directly out of graduate school. Then she went on to work in many different areas of architecture like multi-family residential, retail, office, prison, and medical. She has buildings built from California to Kansas and has earned many awards for these projects. One of her first projects was awarded Architecture magazine's Home of the Year award.
While Anne enjoys her professional career she finds the most fulfillment in academia. She excels in working with students to help them achieve their academic potential and careers goals.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and running marathons. She also gives architectural tours of the twin cities and loves introducing people to the amazing and vast architecture of Minneapolis and St. Paul.
